PETER'S CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTERS

Once Peter was confined to the nursing home, he couldn't write to anyone as he was paralysed down the right side. He learned to slowly use the computer with his left hand (one finger) to communicate with the world.

As he couldn't send out Christmas letters and cards - as he always used to do - he had his good friend Keran Humes type up a Christmas message and forward it to the some 120 friends on his contact list.

These letters which span the five Christmases he spent in the nursing home give a good indication of how he was handling his new life in the nursing home.

Peter carried this Olympic Torch through Lismore on 23rd August 2000, and it is shown proudly on display in his home  (near the Australian flag).

It has been converted into the perpetual 'Peter Imberger Memorial Award for Sportsperson of the Year' (and is shown on display in the Administration Block).

The inaugural award was presented in 2007 to Shaun Swadling for "Outstanding Success in Diving and Trampolining' and the personal trophy is also shown.

There are two newspaper articles related to this award for perusal. See below.

PETER THE ARTIST

During his forced retirement (in the latter part of his 1950s), Peter explored further his artistic capabilities and tried his hand at painting.

Many of his works were on display in his home and some were later found to be stored in the garage or various cupboards.

There were about 30 'art works' in total, and shown below are some of his efforts (not necessarily the best of them) which were surplus.
